Vocation Awakening Meeting

On July 16, 2022 in the city of Codó Maranhão/Brazil, in the parish center of São Raimundo, a “vocation awakening meeting” took place for the youth of  Codó and Timbiras. This inter-congregational event was carried out by the   Missionary Sisters of the Catholic Apostolate, the Sisters of the Love God and the Sisters of the Servants of Mary Reparation. As the theme we had “Christ lives – we are his witnesses”. The meeting was attended by 52 youth from the parishes of Codó and Timbiras.

We began our meeting with a prayer and candlelight procession, in which each youth prayed in silence to the sound of a vocational song; a vocational poem was read and we ended this moment with the Our Father prayer. Then we welcomed our youth with a song of welcome and had the presentations of the young people, followed by the presentations of the charisms of each congregation.

After this moment, we approached the theme: CHRIST LIVES, WE ARE HIS WITNESS, having as resource person Fr. Justenio, from the parish of Saint Anthony of Codó. The priest approached the theme with much depth, excitement and animation. He oriented the youth about their vocation by being attentive to God’s call, since He calls us to a mission and that in each vocation we have to grow for the glory of God, making the call to holiness resound once again, trying to incarnate it in the current context, with its risks, challenges, and opportunities.

After the talks, the young people got together in small groups for a short presentation about the theme addressed, in which we had a beautiful presentation of each group in the form of theater, songs, and poems. After the presentations, we had a moment of fun and excitement, and ended our meeting with an evaluation and lunch. The meeting was conducted in a dynamic way through songs, talks, and vocational testimonies.
