The South African Province rejoiced in gratitude to God as Sr. Mahija Bridget SAC celebrated 25 years of consecrated life on 23rd July 2026 on the feast of St. Bridget. The celebration took place at Vincent Pallotti Convent in Pinelands.
The solemn Eucharistic Celebration was presided over by Fr. Michael Emmanuel Ndau SAC and a few concelebrants. Some members from the new catechumen, members from the management of Joseph’s Home, Schoenstatt sisters, friends and well-wishers joined the celebration.
The main celebrant in his homily referred to Jesus the true Vine, as the source of all spiritual life, strength, and love. Just like a plant, a branch cannot live if it is broken off from the main stem, people cannot have true spiritual life without Jesus. While thanking Sr. Mahija for a quarter century of vowed life, prayer, and selfless service, he encouraged her to look forward to the future with renewed faith, peace and grace.
Sr. Mahija joined the Congregation of the Missionary Sisters of the Catholic Apostolate in India, where she worked in various communities and rendered her service in different capacities. Mainly she served as teacher in various schools. She also served as superior in different communities. Before she was transferred as a permanent member to the South African Province she was the Provincial treasurer of the Indian Province.
Sr. Mahija joined the Province of South Africa in the year 2024, and at present she is in charge of the crèche at St. Joseph’s children Hospital Montana.
On the occasion of her Silver Jubilee, all the Sisters of the South African Province congratulated Sr. Mahija Bridget and expressed their appreciation and gratitude for her commitment and faithful dedication marked by perseverance. May God who began this good work in her, continue to bless her richly. The lively singing of the congregation, the music that filled the air and the elegant flower arrangements created a grace-filled atmosphere during the celebration. The spirit of fellowship continued after the Mass with a delicious banquet. This cheerful celebration was a remarkable witness to all who shared in the joy of Sr. Mahija, the Jubilarian.
