God’s Mercy Is Greater Than Our Human Understanding

I have been a Pallottine Missionary Sister for more than 35 years and have served in different capacities in my Province in India. For the past ten years, I have been working in our guest house in Rome. This ministry has given me many opportunities to encounter people from different walks of life. However, one particular experience in April 2026 touched my heart deeply and reminded me once again of the greatness of God’s mercy and love.

During that month, we welcomed a group of adults with special needs from Bobolice, Poland. They came from the Social Welfare Home for girls with special needs, an institute lovingly run by our Pallottine Missionary Sisters. The group was accompanied by Sr Magdalena Szymczak, the director of the institute, Sr Monika Graw, and four carers.

From the very first day of their arrival, I was deeply impressed by them. Whether in the corridors, the dining room, or at the reception, they conducted themselves with discipline, respect, affection, and gratitude. They were prayerful, joyful, and always carried beautiful smiles on their faces despite their physical and emotional challenges. Their presence brought a special warmth and peace into our house. They truly felt at home with us, and we, too, felt blessed by their presence. When I later shared my experience with the sisters in our community, they expressed the same feelings of joy and admiration.

What moved me even more was the loving care shown by those accompanying them. Each carer attended to the guests with remarkable patience and tenderness. They fed them, washed them, assisted them in wheelchairs, and cared for every need with joy and dignity. It was not merely duty; it was love in action. Watching them, I felt I was witnessing the Gospel being lived out quietly and sincerely.

One moment especially touched my heart. A young lady from the group shared with me that she prays and fasts once every week for vocations to our congregation. I was overwhelmed by her generosity and faith. In her simplicity and suffering, she was offering something so precious to God and to the Church. At that moment, I truly understood that God’s grace works beyond human understanding.

Together with my fellow sisters, I feel deeply grateful to all the sisters and carers who dedicate themselves selflessly to this beautiful ministry in Bobolice. Their daily witness reflects God’s compassion and mercy. This experience reminded me that in the mystery of belonging, we belong not only to God but also to one another. Through love, service, patience, and prayer, we become instruments of God’s mercy in each other’s lives.

May God continue to bless every sister, every carer, and every person who lovingly serves those entrusted to their care.
